Introduction to Drug delivery

Delivering drugs to specific locations in the body has been a major obstacle in drug development for many years. successful delivery is at the core of all drug development. the body has many barriers protecting it from any foreign substances it may encounter. Physiological barriers are the first line of defence for the body. For example an orally delivered drug molecule must cross the thick intestinal mucosal layer and transport itself through the cell membrane undamaged.
